Gentlemen..

I need some help here. Since pheasant numbers suck horribly this season and I have yet to see more then two roosters here west and have gone through a couple hundred dollars worth of gas road hunting nothing I have given up all hope and have just decided to stick with my duck and goose hunting for the remainder of the fall and winter. The old man and I decided to hit up pierre as goose just opened a few days ago. My questions are as follows.

1. Good/cheap places to stay. Considering we will only be there to clean and sleep. (Dog friendly if ya can)
2. Public blinds. I know there is a lot of production areas on the river but are there some good open productions areas with corn and slews off the river with public blinds?
3. Where do I drink my beer after a long day of hunting.

Thanks fellas. Happy hunting.

Here's the link to the lower oahe access area program.

http://gfp.sd.gov/hunting/waterfowl/lower-oahe.aspx

I would call Game and fish and ask them about migration status and the program. Good luck.

Also,

The Super 8 in Pierre is cheap and takes dogs for an extra 10 bucks or so.

As stated above check out the state operated lower oahe access area program. Doesn't get much cooler for public waterfowl hunting. I'm pretty sure almost any hotel in Pierre will accept dogs. We always go to Bobs or the Longbranch for post hunt beers!
