any model in particular? are you asking for opinions on the browning rifle, or on the 243 as a deer cartridge, or both?
i would personally get a savage over the browning. which model depends on whether u want a walking rifle weighing about 8-9lbs or a steady stand rifle about 10-12lbs. the 12bvss is an amazing rifle for the price. that would be a better buy than the browning.
the 243 is an awesome deer gun. its my first choice. the 95gr nosler b-tip or 95gr partition are the best deer bullets ive used. i will try out the swift scirrocco this summer, and i hope to find out how it performs on deer this fall.
I started with a BLR in .243...LOVED that gun
