Lake Michigan Divers

Do dumb divers care if you hunt out of a normal 18 ft fishing boat in Lake Michigan? Will they still come into range if you are hunting out of a 18ft fishing boat? And how close to shore do they get to shore is it best to set up out farther or can you get away with being in closer and not having to deal with deep water decoy rigs. Hoping to get out on the big lake this season so any other advice or help would be greatly appreciated thank you!

You can certainly get some from a boat like that, but not nearly as many as you would get with a real layout boat. I'd hunt out from shore a ways. If you hunt right at the shoreline, you would probably be better off hiding the boat down the shoreline and hunting without it. Don't move the boat too far away, however; you might need it to retrieve ducks or chase cripples.
