Chose not to eat this black duck, seeemed healthy, quacking flying into the decoys. This is the worst case I've seen. I estimate that there was almost fifty percent or more parasite to breast muscle.

those are cysts, not the parasite itself....but yeah, that black duck had it baaaaad. nasty.

Thanks for pointing that out, I just reread the link posted above for more clarification. While the meat may have been safe after cooking I just could get my mind past all those cysts.

wouldn't something like that produce an off flavor? nasty stuff, i'd never eat a visibly infected bird.

Duck usually goes good with rice. Not so much in that case.

I've cooked and enjoyed plenty of ducks with this disease but there are limits.

i have only ever shot one duck with rice breast, a mallard, and it had it pretty bad. i spent a lot of time pickin the 'rice' out of it until i was left with a pile of chopped duck breast. i just couldnt stomach it and ended up tossing it. i know it is supposedly okay to eat but i just couldnt do it.
