Rend Lake

Postby MOSSBERG935 » Mon Nov 25, 2013 9:38 pm

Well, got drawn in, took stake 5 due to the 40 acre field going first. I decided who ever hunted stake 1 works for PETA and did not want anyone killing birds. Every bird that flew over the 40 acre field they shot at it. The 3 guys maybe shot 2 boxes of shells and I only saw them kill 3 maybe 4 birds.

I just don't understand why jerks feel it necessary to shoot high birds. To every hunter, BIRDS WILL FINISH IF YOU LET THEM!!!!

Don't get me wrong I will pass shoot, but they are flying over the decoys well in killing range. These guys all emptied their guns at a flock of geese flying over and 100 yards plus.

Damn. Goes back to those veterans who taught those new boots. I don't like seeing it either. Wish there was a statute against it and maybe it could be enforced.

When I hunted Rend years ago before the geese quit coming south , there was 10 shell limit per person . Maybe that was only during goose season . Obviously it is not in effect now .

The sad part, the guys who hunted stake 1 on the 25th, were in their 40's and 50's. When they drew stake 1, someone in the crowd yelled, "I ain't hunting anywhere near the 40 acre field with that high shooting SOB!"

Crab Orchard will enforce high shooting if you are within the draw. They will tell you to pack your stuff up and wait til you leave. I know a fella who was told to leave by a Fed.
