Making wooden duck calls

Postby Huntin_fool » Tue Jan 21, 2014 6:43 pm

I am new to duck call making and have a few questions. First, i want to start off by saying that i want to make the calls wooden, and i have all of the necessary tools to make them. I was just wondering if there was anyway to fit the wooden insert into the wooden barrel without having to use glue? I want it to fit snug and not come apart, but i also want to be able to take it apart to clean and/or replace the reeds. I am open to ANY advice and/or pointers for beginners, thanks.

Glue? Whoa, don't do that. Inserts are either friction (taper) fit, o-ring fit or wedge fit (on LA style calls). They have to be removable! Go over to http://www.thogamecallsforums.com and spend about three days reading. Everything you could ever want to know about making calls has been covered in detail there.

At least 3 days, if you go through and really look at what the guys at THO forums have to offer, you'll be way ahead of the game.
