Postby Fresnoduckhunter » Thu Jan 23, 2014 7:17 pm

boils down too these two. have shot a benelli nova for years, but looking to get into the semi auto now.
how are your guys experience with them are they reliable, do they have to be cleaned often? do they jam frequently.
looking for a mechanically sound gun with minor hiccups. the fewer the better.if sx3 was looking to get the one in camo, chambered 3.5. please anyone 2 cents helps.

The sx3 is a fine auto, Franchi are nice as well but I have no experience with them personally.

I would not hesitate to buy the win.

I moved from a 28" nova to a 26" waterfowl version of an SX3 this season. The SX3 was awesome and never let me down. Never jammed, etc. We hunt timber and wade so it got plenty wet.

My shooting got better too. I have a 3.5 version but only shot 3" shells. Never been around a Franchi. But there was an SBE II in the group. I like the SX3.

I also liked the 26" barrel over a 28".

Have both in 20ga, Franchi Affinity is my go to, lighter and a tone easier to clean. Cleaned it when it arrived on December 11th, hunted 3-5 times a week average since then, with a string of 8 days in a row and still hasn't slowed down regardless of how cold, some days down into the low teens.

The Affinity will be my next purchase. I know a few that have it and they can't say enough good about it.

I bought a Vinci for my son this past summer. It's a good gun and he loves it. The only reason that I was able to afford it was I got an out of this world deal on it and couldn't pass it up. With that being said, of the two guns that you mentioned, I would pick the SX3. I'm pretty sure that it will be the next gun that I get. I have read everything I can get my hands on about this gun and can find very little bad things being said about it. Check it out for yourself and if you can get your hands on both of them, do it, and see which one feels the best. SX3 is reasonably priced as well.

I have had my syn. Affinity for about 2 weeks, does everything it is supposed to do. I have not shot the SX3 but I did shoulder it while I was shopping, nice gun, the only reason I chose the Affinity was it fit me like a glove. Pick the one that fits best, both are good choices.

Definitely the sx3. Mine has never failed me. Shoots smooth and hits hard

They're both great guns. Buy whichever fits you better. I have an Affinity that I use for upland hunting, but if the gun will primarily be used for waterfowl I'd go with the SX3. Has a little less felt recoil, and I like them a bit more. Affinity's can be had for less $$ though. Both have been 100% reliable.

Have not shot the sx3 but have heard good things. My brother shoots a camo affinity and loves it. 2 seasons of abuse no problems at all. I love my a400 extreme.
