Given the current water situation, everywhere, don't limit yourself to the Butte Sink. Find a club with a well or a very reliable supply. The butte sink relies upon rice tailwater from Butte Co. Growers to get flooded up. That area will likely only have a fifty percent supply, and probably no winter water water, unless it is from wells. The ongoing tailwater supply is what keeps that area going, absent rainfall, during the season.

Things are tough all over, believe me.

50 ducks. Hmmm. More than us in the sink. We did smack the geese though.

i think there are going to be a higher number of blinds available this year. already hearing people that are offering some, but also offering leases with no money back in regards to water. doesn't sound like too good of a deal to me...

agree with you hntndux...that was always the line. Now, I hear guys off Afton and even up to 162 say they are in the sink...maybe the change came when they opened LDC and Howard. I do think Closed Zone farms and Birdhaven would qualify as "sink like" based on habitat

Butte county. Butte sink. From llano to the sutter buttes. Haven't been around as long as some. Maybe it has changed.

I'm going with the 1979 map. Good luck on finding something inside those lines. If we do get a wet year, good luck getting to your blind. Many hunters have lost entire spreads once Butte Creek pops its channel. But, decoys are cheap compared to what a membership and dues will cost. Take the virtual tour. Hope you find something though.

I found that the term "Butte Basin" has been used to describe lands outside the Butte Sink - yet still proximate to Butte Creek with respect to the area of land drained by Butte Creek.
Find a way when there is no way.
