Canadian thanksgiving or American? I have spent 6 American thanksgiving weeks in northerns sask deer hunting and ever puddle pond and lake is froze solid, I would imagine birds are far south of that area by then. I've hunted at -43 degrees F. Thanksgiving week!

Thanksgiving is the time I leave for home as the weather starts to get nasty, frost and thin ice on ponds and the birds are on the move. This year I will be there Oct 8.

War Wagon Crew hunted that 2nd and 3rd week in October for many years. Going at that time you are 80% sure you will see snow and cold. Just hope you don't get frozen out... ...been there done that...

In the early 90's late 80's the first week of November was insanely cold making for the best deer hunting of the season, but it's been super warm in the last 8-10 years, with that said I would bet early October would be enjoyable.
