Prodrive on 1448

This is the boat I currently use to duck hunt. It's a 1448 mt crestliner w/ 20hp beavertail. I'm thinking about getting a new x25 prodrive. I know surface drives aren't the best on 14' boats but will it work? Anyone have experience with this? I have heard about issues with back splash over the transom but my boat has the tall transom so don't foresee this being a big problem. I plan on going to a longer boat in the future. Would I be better off getting the longer boat and running the beavertail for a few yrs or getting the prodrive and the longer boat later?

I'm all jacked up on mt dew!

You won't be happy with the 25 on that boat.
You will buy a larger boat.

Just wait and buy both or get the larger boat first.

Then buy a prodrive 36.

I can tell you ain't from Texas. Them boys would buy everything new right now and pull it to the lake in their new F35ty.

Good for you.

I agree. Id get a larger boat first then run a b igger motor. I have a 1448 and the guy who owmed it before me ran a 23 mb on it for on season. He had terrible performance. Was gettimg around the same speeds as my longtail and porpoised like no other. Like LTMFH said, the 25 will disappoint you with performance on a larger boat say a 17 or 18 ft

Go for it. The small SD will work on that boat. I don't know of a single good reason it wouldn't.

And then throw his big @ss in the back and he's in for a world of hurt. Damn boat would look like a stick bobber in the water lol

He might be able to get away with a large copperhead but there's no point in that if he's going bigger down the road. He's just trying to keep up with me anyway. Hell I offered to sell him my Phowler/pd rig and then I'll just buy a new one ;)

Yeah i realize I need to go bigger boat first. I'm back in the game on that used phowler with x36 pro drive unless u wanna dump urs for that price lol. I'd rather have ur 18' than that 17 anyways.
