I am thinking of going to Brookings, SD on October 4th for the McNeese State vs. South Dakota State football game and had a few questions about the hunting around there. Is the season for duck and goose open that early? Are there any good outfitters in that area. Thanks in advance for the info.

Yes there is great waterfowl hunting around Brookings. You'll have to check the gfp website to see if there are any left over waterfowl liscences. SD is a lottery draw for waterfowl and they have already drawn for them. If you have any more question let me know.

It'll be open then but you have to be drawn (already) for a license.

www.sdgfp.info has the info for hunting & license info but you can't buy over the counter - non-res has to apply in early summer for a July draw.

Not a great system IMHO...
