Duck Hunting near FT Stewart

Postby ArmyHunter » Wed Dec 10, 2008 4:09 pm

This will be my first duck season here in GA as I was deployed last winter. I have hunted ducks for years up north and am looking for someone in the Savannah/FT Stewart area to get together with for some duck hunting. I have dozens of decoys and am looking at getting a boat, I also have a local lease with some flooded timbers that looks promising for some wood ducks, but dont know much about other areas around here, PM me

A.H.,
welcome to the site, I can't speak about that area seeing how I live in ST.Marys but I am sure there a fellow hunters on here from that area. I am sure "Remman" will chime in and possibly throw some names your way.
Glad to see your back from the sand box, I am heading that way in Jan. Again welcome back and good luck, if you ever want to hunt the SE area, give us a shout, I know the guys will be more then willing to bring you in.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in
a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming --WOW -- " What a ride!!!

you dont even need to leave base if you're just wantin to shoot wood ducks. there's a ton of em on the canoochie, and some of the ponds and swamp bottoms are pretty good too. just be careful on the river. it's real high and fast right now. makes retrieving the ducks harder than hittin em. if you get a boat, theres good numbers of birds on the savannah and ogeechee rivers.
