His registered color is "deadgrass," and most deadgrass and some "sedge" Chesapeakes are masked to some degree. Peake was actually heavily brindled as a pup:

But the brindle usually fades with age, which has been his case. Though it still shows well when he's dry:

Get him wet, and the mask "pops":

But make no mistake, while I favor deadgrass for concealment, he was chosen for his parents and their parents without regard for their coloration.

Afraid you're asking the wrong person, as I've not done any of our outfit's booking in years. The coyote and I just show up and hunt. But I'll PM a number for the gal who'll know.

Sorry I misunderstood you and thanks for complimenting Peake. He's been a good hand.

This was taken several year ago at eight weeks old. He did that on his own and never stopped retrieving the paper till the day he died.

I have been waiting a long time to finally be able to post in this forum. I took my Drahthaar, Dixie, on her first real official duck hunt today in NJ on the Delaware River and she was able to complete two retrieves. The first was an easy 30 yard retrieve on a mallard. The second was a cripple black duck that swam down river about 50-60 yards and dove on her a few times. She actually went under water to grab the duck and completed the retrieve. Not too bad for a 10 month old puppy! She should have had a few more retrieves but my shooting was a little rusty.

Funny story, while in the blind I noticed that Dixie would shiver for a few seconds then stop for a few seconds which I thought was strange. I then realized that I was using a mojo decoy on an intermittent setting, so every time it would turn on she would get excited and shiver and when it turned off she would stop.

Good looking pup, sounds like a great first hunt. Funny story with the MOJO.

Here's Kirby on point this weekend during pheasant opener.

And here he is with his CP title he got last weekend. Not too bad for an 8month old pup that only worked upland/pointing for a month.
