January 6, 2009 by

We have a new sponsor here at DuckHuntingChat.com – Flyway LLC

Their website is www.flyway.us.

They are developing the offical FLYWAY BAND RECORD BOOK, where waterfowlers can submit their band record into history.  This will be the largest compilation of banding report information in North America.  This is your chance to be a part of waterfowling history.  You can enter your bird band information right through their website with ease.

They also have have a contest going to all conservation chapters.  If your chapter submits the most band entries, you’ll earn $1000 towards your chapter.

Check them out and I look forward to reading about your bands!

    Hey Matt,

I have heard of it before, but it is pretty rare. Considering the flock might’ve been a local, banded flock…the odds are much higher.

Some guys I know shot a band in E. Minnesota in the early season in 2005. 2 weeks later they came out and hunted with me in S. North Dakota and the same guy shot a band. What’s crazy is it was a consecutive number and banded from the same flock as in E. Minnesota. So after it was banded, it decided to fly over 500 miles west and the same hunter found it.

Wow….Both stories are great…..I have yet to kill a banded bird….But to kill 2 out of the same flock that were banded and consecutive numbers is impressive…But to be 500 miles away from where you killed your 1st banded goose and then kill another one banded from the same location and consecutive numbers….Too cool….Congrats to both of you….
