Find the dog a good pet home and do not get another one. Some folks just aren't cut out to bring one on.
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.

you're right putting him down was a bit of an exaggeration and in all honesty could never do it, I think the dog will be going to my aunt

I'm curious, what breed of dog and how old? Inside or outside? Have you ever tried a obedience class for you and the dog? There are calming treats available to help until you get the pooch over the hump. Lots and lots of options before getting rid of the dog.

What type of dog are we talking about? I would rather work with an overactive dog than a lazy lethargic one. Seems you need to learn how to harness that drive.

Methinks ole Lt Dan thinks this is a fishing forum and he's doing a little trolling. If not then Rick's right, there are some folks that just shouldn't have a dog.

Lt. You definitely should not have a dog. You are not seeing dog training for what it is and focus in only what you want.
Training a dog is a bond, especially a family dog.
Find a buddy who has a dog and hunt with him. Buy a shitzu and sit on your couch with it.
