Momarsh Versa vest verses Old Cabelas.

I have a 82lb. Chesapeake. Bought the Versa vest and have tried to make it work and am going to give it to a friend of mine with a smaller dog. Will not fit my dog, not enough adjustments. I can see it working for smaller dogs.

For my money the old velcro Cabelas vest with some siccors and neoprene cement is the way to go. Wish I could get my money back on the Momarsh.

Thank goodness I stocked up on Cabelas old style vest before Bass Pro got a hold of them.

And I have to thank Indaswamp for helping me put up a lifetime supply of them on close out.

(Even if it could be made to fit as well as a tailored vest, I'd think the Momarsh surely more restrictive for Pup.)

I bought the versavest as well for my 80lb lab, I was very skeptical since he needs a 3xl Avery vest for his chest. It did not fit my dog and wasn’t even close. I called Momarsh and explained the issue of it not fitting in the chest. They admitted they made an error in advertising and offered to send me the extended chest panel free of charge. That extended chest panel fits great for my dog with plenty of room for adjustment. They sell the extended panel but would have returned it had they not sent it free. I was very happy with my experience with them on the phone.

That's odd, I had one last through two dogs that were hunted daily.

My Versavest is already splitting a seam on the main pannel, This is only from my dog trying it on!!

I bought the vest from Gun dog supply and saw nothing about an extended option. I will call Momarsh tomorrow, I either want my money back or I want them to send me a new vest with a new extended pannel. With the seem splitting just from trying it on I dont have much confidence in the product.

I have never had a problem with seems splitting on my Cabelas vest.

The Versavest needs to have broader protection on the chest for larger dogs, it just is not broad enough.

I just got the extended chest piece in the mail today and I am still not very impressed with the vest. It is a great idea that, in my opinion, was pretty poorly executed. It technically fits but horribly at best. With how stiff this vest is now I find it hard to believe that it will ever break in enough to be comfortable for the dog. I will likely be sending this thing back to Gun Dog Supply and just exchange it for a regular vest. With a little cutting and cement I can get a vest that will work much better for my dog. I am going to work with it a little more since I had to wait nearly a month for the chest plate due to USPS sucking at everything. Might as well give it a few more chances since it is already here.

I totally agree with RS Shokley.

I just got the extension in the mail. HIgdon was great to get the extension to me quickly but I just do not like the product.

The regular pannel extension is too tight and the large extension fits better but it is still not a good fit.

Going to stay with the Old Cabelas vest.
