I ran some Fiocchi primers in my waterfowl reloads. Now my cheddite primers work out of the the primer pockets I used the Fiocchi primers in. I never heard of Fiocchis being fatter.

Cheddites are the smallest of the Euro primers then Fiocchi and Rios the biggest I have used. Cannot comment on Nobel Sport, never used them. Even the domestic ones vary a little. I find CCI and Fed to be slightly smaller than Winchester.

Yep fiocchi is bigger than cheddite. And rio is bigger than fiocchi. Cheddite is a hair bigger than win209. Cci and fed are slightly smaller than win209

I have found Fiocci primers to be inconsistent in waterfowl loads. I stopped using them several years ago due to misfires and bloopers.

I haven't had any misfire problems yet with these primers, but I've only shot 4 boxes of shells. So 900 primers left. Primers are scarce right now in my area and prolly for the next 4 yrs. My cousin went to a gun show and found some primers for $75 a 1000. Heck with that! I do have a BP primer pocket conditioner. I guess I'll have to get it out on the bench.
Thanks for the primer tutorial. I bookmarked it.

Also BPI is putting fio primer warning on their website and all of their mailings now. The new 3 in fiocchi hulls are coming with a magnum primer standard, this is not the normal fio616 that we are used to in that all the data is for! I have never seen any data for a fiocchi magnum primer. BPI says that they are going to provide data soon, but they say that about every wad they begin supplying and usually 10 years goes by and still no data, or four or five data points.
Basically we have zero idea how hot that new fiocchi Magnum primer is, because there are no data points in existence of anything loaded with it to use as a comparison. Even assuming that it will be equal or less then the Fed 209a is a complete guess. I wouldn't Burgess or use any of them until I either had some data for them, or some solid comparisons with Federal, Rio, and CCI Magnum primers.
And yeah, cheddite basically fits the same as Winchester primer, even easier for me actually. And I don't use fiocchi primers because every test I've sent it with them comes back with larger variation then the cheddite primers.

Load of the week. Fiocchi 12ga 3” Buckshot
Our lab has been working more with the Fiocchi 616-Magnum Primer. This primer is now standard in production Fiocchi 3” and 3-1/2” 12ga hulls. It is quite a bit hotter than their Standard 616 Primer. The lab has noted differing reactions to this primer with different powders. Longshot has shown a very volatile change, which could be traced to Longshot’s ignition qualities.
Primer Notice: Do NOT use the Magnum primer in load data that specifies the standard Fiocchi 616 primer.

That is interesting...
That 3 in 12ga load is overpressure for saami spec of 11500 psi!

I bounce back and forth between Fiocchi and Noble Sport. I believe they are the same diameter.

This latest part of the thread is great example of something BT Justice used to preach....
Pressure and velocity are not related... or at least not highly related. Good powder burn equals good velocity.
Great data between the different primers and powder loads to illustrate that point here.
