what's up killers? did anyone get out for early teal yet? we went opening day and got to fire the gun. we saw a few teal and a few wood ducks. we just didn't see a lot of the early teal.
We tried up at Lange's marsh in Augustine Wildlife Area opening day. DID NOT SEE A SINGLE TEAL! Or any other ducks for that matter, just a few cormorant. No geese either, and too damn hot. Zero shots all morning from 1k acres as well. We heard 4 or 5 shots - may have been from the impound. Kudos to the DNREC they did a nice job on the blinds in Augustine. Just need birds to show up!
they grassed the blinds already? I don't understand why they do that. there is very little participation in early teal and you don't need a lot of cover to shoot the teal if they're around.
Tried Woodland this morning, blind 10. We were the only party to show up for the lottery! That right there says a lot...
Out until 8am, and only saw two mallards and about 5 teal. No geese, a few cormorant. Ray at Woodland said only about 12 teal were taken so far this season. 6 on opening day, and like one a day since...wow.
I've been hunting this area for teal for the last 7 years and have NEVER seen it so dead!
Was finally able to get out for the first time this season and my buddy and I had a successful hunt at Augustine. We ended with 8 birds(5 gwt, 3bwt) and lost another to the marsh. Mostly singles and they moved from shooting time until about 8:30. I attached some pics.
