Certainly strange where different spots produce differently. I hunted ducks Thursday and the numbers were insane. My shooting ability was not. Could’ve easily had a limit. Hunted deer the past few mornIngs and duck numbers were still crazy. Even this morning when AA texted me saying he did pull the trigger, I had ducks going over my stand from 5:45-6:30. Just the right place I guess.
My doctor said drinking heavily can lead to a slow death. I said good, I'm not in any hurry.

Out this morning. Incredible number of teal before shooting light. A couple came in after, but poor shooting spared them. Ended with a pair of woodies. No big ducks at all. I have seen more teal in a couple of hunts then I generally see in a season. Some of the drakes looked just about fully plumed.

Buffle, somebody else on this forum I text with often told me he’s seen more teal this year than any other. My spots just don’t hold them unfortunately.

my season has been nothing to brag about so far but it’s gonna heat up as the temps drop. it was more of the same this morning until a flock of black ducks paid a visit at 8am. finally some more work for chapo. x3 on the momarsh. money well spent.

Good job PL and Chapo! Glad you had that spot to yourself today.

me too, because that flock of blacks would never have made it through the gauntlet without someone taking a long passing shot.

So I’ve been skunked the past 3 times out and finally this morning I fixed that problem. Had Jambrose come this morning and we got 4 woodies and a mallard. Lots of mallards around but they were real wary! Also we had zero wind so they were flying high and they’d circle 4 or 5 times. They were definitely picking us out. Was nice to get back on the board again though! Image

Had an awesome time. Thank you AA for letting me tag along! And great to see everyone get into them this morning, seems like the weather this week pushed a few birds our way. Hopefully that trend continues!

20-21 season.

Postby Professor_Leakey » Tue Nov 24, 2020 11:12 am

not as many ducks today. managed one greenhead and two geese. chapo needs more geese in his life. he’s still not sure what to do with them. tossed a goose for a few retrieves before picking up today. get him used to it.

Ton of woodies this morning at shooting light and before, but two dark and foggy to shoot with rain. Once it got lighter took two drakes on two shots. Could of limited on woodies, but didn’t want to shoot hens and only had minimal time to hunt.

I haven't seen any woodies on the Cape lately
Finally the late coastal split opened back up, 3 days of hunting then 12 days of wasted season starting on Monday.
I got beat on a pond spot this morning so plan B was hit the marsh, plenty of blacks & GWT around. Hit a couple ponds after the tide chased me out & then back to the marsh to finish off the limit

That’s a nice looking GWT! It’s been real tough at my spots, got the skunk today. Not even a shot. The mallards are real wary.

That is the best looking GWT I've ever shot, usually the drake's I've got in the past always look like the one next to it. One of the wings is busted up & the back is a little ruffled up from it getting hit while flying away.
I do have to say that everything I hit folded up with the Boss #5s, my 1st time using them on regular ducks, last week on sea ducks they would get knocked down but either dive down or get up and takeoff

I think if you go up to 4’s in Boss you’d be ok. I kill geese with the 4’s.

Well my teal season continues. I’ve almost shot as many teal this year than I did total birds last season. Got my first blue wing early this year in Maine. Got three nice drakes this year, and two this AM. One happened to be banded. Have an email in to get the info from it.

Congrats man! Wish I got into more teal. The only spot I have with teal I can’t hunt unless my buddy goes and all he’s done is hunt deer!

Nice bird Yak, even better with the leg jewelry

Well I screwed up last night, had a few mayflower Thanksgiving ales, ate too much & crashed on the couch arounch 730. Woke up at midnight then messed around on my phone till 3am, decided not get back up at 5.
Was waiting for my buddy to get off his FD shift at 8, he wanted to bring his 2 y/o lab out thats been a little gun shy.
So we hit the salt marsh, had a few blacks & teal jumping up ahead of us out of range. Ducks ended up few & far between, I chock it up to weather being too nice & after a few shots everything flew out.
Ended up surprisingly with 2 out of 3 surf scoters that were swimming in one of main creeks, they'll probably end up in the jerky pile

Nice bird yakattack, no need for an email. Bands are reported online and you get the info immediately. https://www.reportband.gov/
