Another reason for the gamey taste may be the water the beaver was in. If he was in a stream with relatively clean water he’ll taste better than if he was in some nasty bog water that he has completely stopped up. Another factor is how long he was in the trap before you got him out of the water. Fresher is always better

Well the tail I tried wasn't good at all. Reset of the beaver I'd take over beef any day of the week. I pan fried my rat and I thought it was good. Maybe there was a bottle of wine involved

Looking on advice on a vexilar/other brand fish finder. Haven’t ice fished in close to a decade. I will only go out maybe 2x a year, but that could increase. So I don’t want to break the bank, but want something I won’t be disappointed with in 3 years. My boy is asking me daily to go ice fishing. It’s the only thing I don’t have.

I’d invest in a helix7 since you could use it for open water too. I have a marcum LX7 and a the older version of the marcum m3 and like them, the marcum mx7 looks awesome too and could be used for open water

Whatever you purchase I’d make sure it has an adjustable zoom feature

But serious I was big on bonus teal, open water hunting, increase goose limit, remove 4pm shooting time, use of motorized decoys for you guys.

Took the survey. The only thing I really care about is the teal season. I'm guessing it will probably get shot down again. If the science supports a season it shouldn't even be up for debate it should be implemented. If it is found to be a detriment to the resource end it. Not really that hard of a concept. If people don't want to enjoy more days out don't but don't stop others from doing so if they so choose.

Yea man, went to a cabelas in Pennsylvania to get a rifle for elk, deer hunting and it’s absolutely insane out here, I watched a cabelas employee with a huge rolling cart full of ammo literally get picked clean while he was trying to put the ammo on the shelves, he didn’t even get down 1 isle and it was all gone... while we were waiting for a gun to get a rifle for me I overheard a conversation with a lady that she was told they had 38 special ammo and drove 3 hrs to the store to get it, the employee told her they did, they had put out a full truck load of ammo at 9am and it was all gone by 9:15am, absolute insanity, I also overheard someone at the gun counter having to be told by an employee the difference between a muzzleloader and a rifle and why the 300 win mag wasn’t a muzzleloader.... feels damn near apocalyptic around here

Anyway picked up a sweet franchi 6.5 creedmoor for elk -bear-deer hunting

Or bring it to on your next trip to Duluth and drive an extra hour and we can send some rounds down range.


I’ve shot 15 rounds so far....did get a box of 9mm when I bought the gun, also came with a 40 barrel which I will use for bear protection with some hot hand loads. But I can’t find 40 anywhere. Paid a damn 100 bucks for 150 rounds of 9 from Rogers and now I’m feeling like I can’t even go shoot.

You can get 9mm +p rounds for bear that will probably outperform the 40 cal, assuming you have a +p barrel

But I have buddy who carries a 40 with some hot hand loads for bears while now hunting all season out in the mountains. When I was asking my shooting knowledgeable friends 9 wasn’t in the running. 40, 45 or 10 in auto. Which I wanted. Otherwise would have just got a good old American wheel gun with big hot loads.
