Good morning.

Got some of the old decoys my dad and his friends hunted over back in the 70's and 80's old carry-lites General fiber paper maches and some American Animal trap plastic ones. Plus a pretty cool camo net from Duckman

Happy Friday guys! Feels like a Monday for me. Phone started going off at 3:30 this morning. An engine I rebuilt this spring for a customer apparently sucked a valve and dropped the pushrod down wiping out the camshaft in the process. Gotta go check it out later today and figure out what to do about it. It was a brand new cylinder head I put on so hopefully cat will at least go good for the parts.

Definitely not as bad as some other states. At last check, we've had about 40,000 confirmed cases here and about 2,400 of those required hospitalization.

9-1 sounded better in a float tube than a bar last night even without Covid. I have fished this spot for 35 years now (amazes me to think about it) and it's just a damned fine fishing hole. About 26 acres of old quarry that was brought on as a fishing club back in the 60's and stocked. Finally went under and now its just businesses around it. Not crazy deep like many and best fished at night with the crystal clear water.

Over the years have caught hundreds of 18-20 inch bass. One 21 inch Small Mouth and twice got broken off on what I think must be a musky. I'm always rubber worm fishing with no leader and when you set the hook and it feels like a log snag until you feel the head shake and the line snap clean...ya know it is big and has teeth. Not really any snappers in this spot. Have also lost bass I am sure went 23 inches or better but lost them trying to horse 'em in. Managing large fish in a belly boat is a little tricky and no net.

Anyway...caught a bunch of eaters last night but released them. One 19 incher pictured. In memory of Dad took a jitterbug from his tacklebox and fished it last for a decent 15 inch bass toward the end. Pictures are near impossible to take at night in a float tube for several reasons and getting 5 of 6 jitterbug barbs out of a fish is even trickier. :lol3: :fingerhead:

I've seen some stupid stuff there at night over the years so thank God last night was quiet and peaceful. Hunting and fishing that's all I really ask for.

Me too, but I don’t think that will happen for a very long time, or ever...
