Both have advantages and disadvantages.
The floor lamp models work really well for wider seating areas, like couches and chairs. The one big drawback is they blow over, so you need to keep them in a protected space when not in use or get used to dented umbrellas.
Downside of table tops models is they are on the table top.
One model I really like is the table with the heater built into it. The two I have experienced are round tops, one for four people and one for six. Basically, the pedestal in the middle is the heater, so the heat drifts under the tabletop and directly against your legs.

Might as well just leave the doors and windows open on the house

Once you need heat on the deck it’s time to stay inside

Not everyone is as manly as you. Some of us have soft buttery, office hands that are free of all calluses and abrasions. We need a splinter free opportunity to hold our white wine spritzers while outside and snuggled under a crocheted Afghan.
Don't judge me.

You're free to snuggle with all the afghani you want.

I'm guessing Afgan crotcheties are a delicacy in Kansas.
