Sitka Jacket Question

Postby Woodie14 » Tue Dec 29, 2020 7:36 pm

I’m looking for opinions on the Sitka duck oven and dakota jacket. I’m leaning towards the dakota but would like to hear everyones opinions. Thanks!!

Bruh- you trying to start a fight with this thread?

The Hudson or the Duck Oven jackets get my vote. Have no experience with the Dakota.

Lol, not trying to cause a fight, but I know Sitka is a touchy conversation.

Sitka makes top quality gear, but it's ridiculously expensive. If you know where to watch, you can find deals for 30-40% off. I got my stuff from camofire.com
Check that site daily and eventually they'll have deals on Sitka gear.

I have the duck oven and Dakota hoodie along with several other pieces. My favorite of all is the Dakota hoodie.

If you can find an outfitter they have a friends and family discount, At certain times of the year, where you can get Sitka for half off

I have the Dakota hoodie and with a bottom layer or 2 you would not need much more even in the coldest conditions. The duck over might be water proof thpugh which I do not think the hoodie is?

From what I’m seeing, the dakota and duck oven are water repellent but not water proof. I’ve also heard that the dakota is a little more durable than the duck oven. I like that the duck oven has the upper hand chest pockets but just not sure if it is worth the extra $50 if the datoka is just as warm.

Make sure you pay attention to the fit of sitka gear some are standard fit and have more room for layers and others are performance fit which are more of a layering item and have very little room for layers under. I like the Dakota hoodie as it is standard fit and I wear it as an outer piece and it's definitely a more durable jacket than the duck oven.

Thanks, guys!! I think I’ll give the dakota jacket a try. I like zippered jackets a little better than pullovers.
