Does anyone use Texas rigs

I'm thinking of switching to Texas rigs for my decoys and was wondering if anyone else uses them the way I have my decoys now let's me set my water depth from 3" to 4ft but takes a while to undo and redo them

What size would you suggest if I don't hunt in anything over 4ft?

They're worthless if you're hunting the sound.

I normally just hunt puddle ducks I have a small boat designed for sea duck but I don't have but 1 redhead decoy anymore.

I've used Texas rigs for the last 7 years or so. If you're hunting 4 feet I'd get at least a 60 inch rig to compensate for wind and tides. Makes for a harder deke toss (which is the least of the worries) but much easier clean up in my opinion.

I use Texas rigs in impoundedments and places with little wind...I use 3 oz egg weights, however if you use those same deeks in a creek your gonna be chasing them down.

good advice, I use texas rigs in shallow water situations, mainly impoundments, this is where I hunt most often. Texas rigs are excellent for this type of situation. I do not use Texas rigs in creeks/swamps of central NC.

I do not use mallard decoys in impoundments, not enough mallards where I hunt in Hyde to worry about. mostly wigeon, pintail, black duck and teal decoys.

I use mallard and wood duck decoys in the creeks and swamps.

in the sound I use diver decoys on a net and long lines. I also throw in a few wigeon (usually not texas rigged)
