Duck ID

Shot this one this morning in the snow. At first it had me stumped, but now I think it is a hen Goldeneye.
What you guys think?

Congratulations sir! You've got yourself a ruddy duck! I love a good duck ID thread!

Seriously though, congrats on the goldeneye. I've only killed 2 in NC.

Hen goldeneye for sure. I shot one back in the early 80’s near Greenville while hunting mallards. Very rare around here, nice addition to the bag.

Definitely a goldeneye. Bill looks dark in the picture, may be an immature drake. I've killed 3-4 over the years. Killed 2 out the same marsh blind in the same season several years ago.

Had 3 come in the other day, all hens and only managed one. Some tough birds for sure!
