Does anyone know if refuge draw hunts will go on with government shutdown?

Hate to make long drive to turn around and come back.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all!

Refuge is shut down. Happened last time there was a shut down. Considered non essential. Then the next question is if they are non essential then why do we employ them?

Got call back from Refuge manager today, hunts are on for this weekend. We have already cancelled our trip, so someone will get nice standby blinds (in the rain). Good hunting and thanks to the Refuge manager for allowing the hunts to go on, even with shutdown.

I spoke with the manager as well, all the hunts have been cancelled until the shut down ends. Said it really didnt matter as the prior hunts had produced little to no birds.

The shut down did a lot of people a big g favor so that they don't waste their time money and energy just to watch a sunrise

Today I watched a beautiful sunset over the north end of the lake. That part of the lake is covered in huge rafts of ducks. The sun setting on the huge rafts of ducks was awesome.
