Not sure we are going to have much of a November if NOAA is right on this

the calendar migrators will come, some are here already.

Nature has gone through cycles since the beginning of time.

Mosquitoes are terrible in Hyde right now.

I just looked at the weather channel. They are predicting a colder than normal November for the northeast and mid Atlantic states. We are suppose to be below normal too. Then again when is the weather channel ever right. :lol3:

Hope you’re right Hyde.

Man, I hate to sound like an old fart talking about the good old days....but then again I am an old fart...so here I go:

My first years in NC, ‘01 to ‘06-‘07 timeframe, I had successful diver hunts on Thanksgiving. I don’t remember the last time we had anything other than buffies and merganser that early.

Last year 2 days after thanksgiving we shot limits of bluebill, redheads, a few puddle ducks, and a couple of drake buffleheads on Pamlico sound. the nov season was good for divers for me. then again, this year might not be so good.

My impoundments were not good in Nov last year. hope that changes.

Last November I saw a pair of mallards neat Havelock on the opener, after that it was pretty much just woodies. I’ve been seeing some migrators, nothing crazy though. A flock of mallards few over while I was deer hunting last weekend, a few high flying flocks flew over on my way home yesterday. I am at least seeing more woodies than last year. Figure opening day won’t be fast and furious shooting, but if I can figure out the right spot a few should hit the water.

I am liking what I am seeing right now, despite what NOAA says. Arctic blast up in the Great Lakes + an approaching full moon (12 Nov).

Looks like my first hunt with be 16 Nov. Hoping they'll be here by then

I believe NOAA's original prediction was a little off. Opener is setting up to be epic.

The season that Sandy hit the northeast, we had divers thick all season. The Feds gave us a 4 bird limit on bluebills that year too.

Dingbatter, I have been thinking EXACTLY that. The Sandy season was the best in the last 10 years, for me anyway.

I have been thinking how awesome it would be if this weather does the same thing this year.

Look at that 30 day NOAA map at the top of this thread, then look at the current weather. Could they have gotten this any more wrong?

There are now 3 dozen behind my house. Not quite full plumage yet
