Teal sighting

Postby Specklebelly » Sun Sep 06, 2020 4:48 am

I saw a flock of teal yesterday while dove hunting. A great way to get the blood pumping for season.

Anyone else see any?

I saw a huge flock a week ago. Then I saw some this weekend.

I’m worried this front will push them out.

Well hunted the river today, saw 2 small groups between 8:30 and 9, wouldn't even give us a look. Also saw zero doves.

Anyone have any success?

We had one buzz our decoys about ten minutes into LST. That was it.

We saw a lot of doves driving home on the wires so trying that tomorrow.

Found several hundred yesterday but the mud was about nut deep and not enough water even float a kayak. That was a bummer

I don’t usually mess with early teal but one of my hunting buddies wanted to go so we found some and shot our two man on the opener. Seemed to be a lot of them in the area we were based on the amount of shooting.
Seen some wigeon and shovelers as well

I kicked up about 6 from my spot as I cruised in at a sweet 8:45. Only "Hunted" for about 30 minutes, this was more of an outing with the boat to do a light test run. I did land a nice sand bass as they were surfacing right next to my spot. Got a small black bass later in the day too. Saw plenty of dove on Sunday and Monday. Too warm and too many things that like to bit me still out for me to go again.

Eh, traded an A5 for a 16 foot flat bottom middle of season last year. The motor is a 86 and the body is 78, so I wasn't in any real rush to get myself stranded in bad weather. So I've been working on it during the rona's and using it alot during fishing season as a form of sea trials, its got an intermittent issue with the bottom cylinder not getting spark that I'm pretty sure is a switchbox issue.
