2012 Veteran's day hunt

Postby terrellwa » Mon Sep 17, 2012 7:17 pm

It's time to start getting ready for the annual Veteran's day hunt. This thread will be used to plan, discuss and eventually show what a great time we had together. If you would like to attend this years Veteran's day hunt post up here. I know from setting this up the last two years that the list is long in the beginning but gets shorter the closer we get. So if you think you will be available post that you would like to attend and also post what side of the state you are on. Perhaps we can have an Wetside Vs. Dryside hunt. Also post the years and branch you were in I don't like hunting with Marines or Army guys so they go to a different blind.

This year I want to do things a little different I would like to place people in groups of 5-6 with a CO that will setup and lead that team. This year Veteran's day is on a Sunday so good planning will be needed by the CO and the teams. The teams will be decided by the post up list, as you post I will add you to the list the first 6 will be on team 1 and so on and so on, that way it can't be said I am just taking friends it will be by the time you post. I will then need a CO for each team so if you would like to be a CO let me know also.

If you want to attend post up your name, branch of Service, dates in, and side of the state. I will update the list as people respond and you will be able to know what team you will be on.

I will be leading a team on Friday the day before Veteran's day on the East Side, Goose hunt, and I will also be leading a team on Saturday Veteran's day here on the Westside. If you are on the east side and want in on that hunt let me know in your post. If you are on the west side but one of the first 6 and you want to hunt on Saturday also put that in your post.

Michael,

I'm in. Curt Hartlieb. 22 years, Army (almost retired - Apr 2013)

I will have time fo both the goose hunt and the saturday hunt as well. I have a boat that I'll bring over and can take another guy or I can bring my layout boat. I'll have a retriever as well, very well trained (folks from last year can vouch for her).

Thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone. I'll bring some goodies for the guides like I did last year too.

Thanks Curt I added you to the Friday hunt. Are you going to stay in Moses Lake area to hunt Saturday? I am heading back to the Westside to take the Veteran's day group out. Do you want to be a CO for a Saturday group and if so how many would you like in your group?

Oh and remember there may be two different Bens on the hunt and you want to give the goodies to Ben the guide.

Im in.

Work at McChord AFB as a bus driver. Been with the Air Force bus driving team since 2010 but was a member of the blimp folding team prior to that. I'm from the west side and would be available for either day. I typically hunt potholes and the surrounding area but am always willing to stay on the wet side to partake in the fun.

I'm down for either, but prefer the west side hunt. Unless I can do both??? Current active duty AF 2004-present. Thanks man!

I'll try to bring enough goodies for everyone but I'll make sure that the right Ben gets some good stuff.

The wife and I will be spending the night in Moses Lake and

I can take the lead for the Saturday hunt for a group. I won't be able to hunt with anyone as I won't have room in the boat but I can sit down with everyone and let them know some places to go but it's going to be on public land. I can probably put three x two or three man groups on water for ducks. Some of the stuff is walk in some will need a boat.

Oh and Terrel- you're out numbered now bud!

Thank you Ben for offering this again - you're getting an email from me soon as on trying to plan a company goose hunt for the guys at work right now!

Erie,

Are you planning on hunting East side Friday and then West side Saturday?

I'm looking forward to seeing that motor build. I have my boat all ready for one.

My calendar shows Veterans Day to be on a Sunday, not that it makes a big difference for guys to have a reason to go and hunt.
I will not know until closer to the date if I can go, but will keep an eye on the list and let you know.
