Posting pictures

Used to do it all the time, but forgot a step in process I guess.
I click post reply
I click upload attachment
I click Browse
I select and click picture on my computer window which pops up to side and numbers appear in center box between Browse and add the file
I click on add the file....note comes saying file to big

But it seems there is a step then where the paint program should pop up that let's me resize on pixels, and then another that says to place in-line that do not now appear how do I access those.......How do I get to paint where I can resize picture? What step am I missing?

Thanks guys

I can access my paint program separate of DHC on my computer. I can resize images there, but doing it in that manner I do not know how to transfer an image to a posted reply on DHC. As I said, there is/was a step within the DHC without going to another program, that used to bring up paint in THAT process. A window with paint program would appear by clicking in the upload attachment process
Has DHC changed their program to another image posting process within the last year? If not, please review the explanation I posted and tell me if I am either doing something in the wrong order, or forgetting a step I used to do all the time. Somebody here must know what I'm talking about concerning bringing up a paint window where images can be resized within the DHC post reply process.
Thank you.

I have resized picture selected on my computer's paint program. It is there waiting. How does DHC recognize that fact? What do I click in order to move it from there (Paint Window) to POST REPLY?
TenFingergrip's primer on how to post pictures on the DHC reply falls apart for me between Step #4 and Step #5. The screen does NOT blink. The words "PLACE INLINE" do not appear.

Can I ask what browser you are using? I'll run a test and post some fresh steps for you

Ed/Admin:

I see this issue all the time. Never experienced it myself.

What is the Maximum file size AND Dimension that DHC will accept when using the upload feature?

Thanks, if that is the case - what is your guess as to why so many people report an error that their files size is too big?

5MB is pretty thick, are cell phone pics really that big or bigger most of the time?

Id like to know why cell phone pictures are sideways 90 degrees when you post them

I think it has to do with how you take the picture. If you rotate the phone sideways make sure you have it rotated counterclockwise so you hit the button with your right thumb or finger.

This happens because the forum software is unable to read the EXIF data that is imprinted on the photo when you take it.

The EXIF data holds a lot of information, which includes orientation of your photo. Many programs are able to read this, and that is why you see it displayed upright in some places, but many others still are not.

This is a good article that explains all of this: https://www.howtogeek.com/254830/why-yo ... y-rotated/

The gist of it is, the phones are designed to work like a digital camera. Holding your digital camera flat, in landscape, is the 'base line'. Developers used this 'base line' in the following way for mobile devices:

Apple users: hold your phone with your VOLUME buttons DOWN.

Android users: hold your phone with your HOME button to the RIGHT.
