Antelope

Postby BGipson » Mon May 01, 2017 2:24 am

Anyone else putting in for speedgoat this fall? I have 2 guaranteed doe tags and 1 in 4 odds on my buck tag. I'm in the process of building a new all-purpose rifle and can't wait to test it on some critters this fall. In the meantime, load development and long range steel will have to do.

I am in for speedgoats as well, draw odds are pretty decent for my unit and have already located a couple to keep an eye on.

Awesome! I'm going for unit 95. Cousin shot an 81" green score last year. I've never shot a goat so I'm excited to get it done finally.

Remington 700 Long Range in 7mm Rem Mag. Cousin is doing load development since I don't have my reloading bench together yet. Getting ridiculous performance with 180 Bergers. Over 3000fps without pressure signs and around .5 MOA. Gonna need a brake for sure though with the recoil haha gonna be ordering my scope (Vortex Viper HST 6-24x50) end of the month and replace the scope I had laying around that I put on it to get started.

Nice mass and diggers on that goat! What did he go? I'm gonna guess high 70's but the angle doesn't afford a great estimate. What area (not actual area, but general region) do you go to that allows you to get tags every year?

Thanks BP, i think the wardens scored him at 71, but honestly i dont remember. We go just east of the Big Horns but no specifics, im very concerned about the winter kill off Wyoming had this year and its getting more difficult to get our tags. He was taken on public lands at 350 yards with a 300wsm.

Awesome. Only a little more and we find out our draws. We have enough friends and family put in, someone should get a buck tag for our area. Plenty of folks gonna have doe tags to fill so even if we all manage to flop with our buck draw, there will be animals harvested.

With all the alfalfa they have to eat, it won't even be a struggle

Got my 2 doe tags, but no luck on the buck tags among our group. 7 total doe tags so it'll be a fun month.

Lucky! I wasn't expecting to, but I figured at least 1 of our group (not applied as a group) would have.

Im headed back to Wyoming this fall with both my buck tags and a pair of doe to boot. This year will be difficult to pass on the the 3x3's I let walk in 2015. We only saw one big boy and he was getting pushed, no shot. Safe travels and hunts to all.

Any update with the wolf situation? Did they open it back up?

It will be getting opened but the commission has to finalize regulations in the upcoming meeting(s). Sounds like you get to enjoy about as much trigger time as my group!

I got 2 Doe and a Buck tag in unit 63.

Killed a decent goat and two does there last year.

I also drew 87 Deer, so I have a few drives this fall.

Nice! I'm out doing trajectory validation with my new rifle currently. At 650 and working my way out just because [emoji38]

2 does down, handful more to go. My buddies wife shot her first big game animal (antelope) at 480 yards and my buddy shot his first antelope at just under 300. Both are deboned and in their ice chest headed home.

Nice work! We have done fairly well filling tags between WY and ID this year. Managed 7 antelope, 5 deer and an elk for our group.ImageImageImageImageImageImage
