Duck locations near mountains

I am from the Greenville area and considering moving to NC mountains. Does anyone know if there are any ducks near Boone, Bryson city, or lake James area?

there are ducks in the lake James area but not the others.

Very few and very far between. Other than some early season wood ducks not a lot happening
