Also, I don’t have any problems patterning my guns, and this particular gun has great patterns with a PM code black timber and Kent 3” 3s.

I don’t want to go anything to my barrel. I was just asking for a starting point from them and that is all they would suggest. The patternmaster timber throws great patterns but I was just curious on the t2...C M Wings wrote:If you’re shooting great patterns why do you want to do anything to your barrel? All you are doing is losing the chrome lining inside. In theory I guess a lengthened forcing cone is supposed to reduce some recoil and maybe improve patterns a little bit. If you’re worried about shooting other size shot, start with a different choke. Number 3 Shot will kill any decoying bird large or small. Try some number 1s through that pattern master. I bet they throw more than a passable pattern.

Yeah I really didn’t want to do the forcing cone. That was all the info they would give me. I was just asking for a starting point since the Kent’s I have weren’t patterning very well... They suggested the black cloud but that was it. No other options.3200 man wrote:There been trials (test) that have proven lengthening a forcing cone does very little for Steel Shot shooting !
Pellet types of soft material like Bismuth or Lead has shown pattern improvement and deformation from set-back was
believed to be the cause . Lengthening the Forcing Cone "TAPER" helped reduce barrel scrub ! FWIW
