Any of you guys ever hunt with a 14 -36 with a 15 horse outboard?

will it handle two guys a dog and a dozen and a hakf dekes and what kind of speed would you get in a light flat bottom rivet boat?

Is it really unstable being that narrow?

Did a year in the same setup. We had a pretty heavy load for the boat usually, but hunted small waters. Sometimes 3 guys, 5-6dz dekes, and a heavier than average folding blind. Our average load of 3 small guys (150lb average), 4dz dekes (weighted keel), and all the norm equipment, with a early 70s evinrude 15 that ran like a top, speed was probably 15mph. Not fast but planed us out as long as the weight was distrubuted. For small waters you'll be ok, but watch the freeboard with the leaning and weight distribution.

It will work and weve all had a setup similar but anyone who says stability is not an issue has never been in a bigger boat. I had a 1440 for years and now have a 1756 and it is even unstable compared to bigger boats. I will never have anything under a 70 inch bottom again. 1770 is nice but my favorite platform is 18x8. Unless your hunting timber there is no need for such a small and skinny boat.

Yes, I have hunted out of that same exact set up, but just sold it b/c I bought a bigger boat. You can easily handle 2 guys, dog and 3 dozen dekes and still not have to skrimp on other gear. mine would top out fully loaded with the above mentioned weight at about 17-18 mph, but would go 21 mph with me and fishing gear. You will be able to get into very tight, very shallow areas in that little rig. I would not have sold mine but just didn't have room to keep 2 boats.
