There is a lot of variation, but one of the most common hybrid. Super cool whatever it is. I one time shot a blue bill, that clearly had a ring bill bill. Sadly after about a year in the freezer I tossed it. It wasn't pretty, but everyone agreed it looked goofy.

Nah it was pretty shot up. You are correct on the old hen mallard. Have seen some pictures on the internet but never seen one in real life. Took a bunch of pictures and will probably carve a decoy to gun over to remember it.

There is a guy at delta waterfowl that will take a tissue sample if you're not going to eat it. He's been doing hybrid studies for a few years. You can contact him from the webpage. They want all birds, and as much of the bird you'll give them.

Took my old pointer out to walk some public. Didn't see any pheasants, but found a bunch of snow goose feeds just north of Salem. Sat in a ditch for about 20 minutes and this one swung over. Took him to the taxidermist. Nice adult bird.

Got the old boy out this weekend. Got skunked Friday. Had more time today. Spooked two roosters off the road, and they only went about 70 yards into CREP. One bumped as we we're getting out of the truck. The other one not as smart. Next CREP we walked was about 5 acres. Got a dandy out of there. Winged another road hunting home. Should have had a limit

Lincoln was watching birds run off into the sundown. Lots of birds this year. And Kristi Noems fine ace extended the season through January this year. Birds are super wild, but bunched up, which is awesome. Saw 2 birds Friday. Probably 50+ today.

We here in your neighboring state still have pheasants through this month, ducks on the MO until 1-20, and honkers up to Feb 14. With good weather, it makes ice fishing second fiddle.
