Figured we better get this going with opener on the horizon. I've been doing a little shorefishing with limited success enough for a fish fry and tried for catfish twice with the boat with nothing to show for.

nice! going tomorrow afternoon for the first time on open water to target crappie (assuming the forecast is true) after that I'm probably gonna hit the big lake in search for salmon/trout until walleye opener on the 15th

I think this is the only open water boat and fish stuff I've done so far. Didn't see much for carp, but saw a ton of walleye up spawning (2 weekends ago)

Walleye doesn't open up here until the 15th ... assuming we don't get rain that increases water levels and current I'm hitting the river but I wouldn't be surprised if the water temps are still sub 50 next week and its terrible. I went to an inland lake last weekend and it was up about 5 feet so fishing sucked

It's an arbitrary date picked purely for economical and social reasons, that people think (incorrectly) is based off biology.

Well the dock didn't skunk. But it wasn't lights out.

7 snakes, 1 perch, a decent little bass and the oldest got a 17.5" while I was taking a sauna.

Brother did less than fair for walleyes on the boat.

We had a big bass die off 5 or so winters ago so it is awesome to see a bass of this size again. I'd rather catch bass and northern of any size than walleye any day of the week. Might even get the canoe out and dust off the Jaw Breakers come early June to chase horny Large mouths. Never a ton of hookups but the way they attack that Jaw Breaker is exciting.

Nice fish.

Btw, didn't even get a nibble prefishing. Did end up catching a couple on Saturday. Nothing big enough to gloat about.

Got out twice. Fishing sucked for us. Managed some panfish and 2 northern. This 24" was the only one worth a pic.

My open water season has been failure after failure, waters still to cold on the big lake, went out Saturday and it was 38 degrees in keweenaw bay... did get the kids out this morning caught some perch and bluegill, nothing big but enough to make a meal out of
