I'd get one of those inflateable rafts: sevylor, or intex. You can also buy a small electrical motor & mount for it. whole set up would cost maybe $125 or even cheaper on ebay. I like the canoe idea. I wouldn't want to hunt from the raft if there were alot of hunters around.

Possibly look for smaller ponds on private or public land to hunt on and use waders. Do you have topo map of the county? Also ask the local G&F CO to see if he knows of any public areas to hunt ducks at.

I know a guy that has used one of those float tubes for fishing. He has been very successfull with it. I am hoping to go once with him this year. He says that it is fun to suck back into the trees low to the water, and have the ducks just buzz by you.

This wouldn't work in all situations, but it might help out in some.

I got a couple of boats last year, one for free and one for a hundred bucks. Keep your eyes open while driving around and if you see a boat in someones yard that is covered in weeds and stuff and hasn't been used in years knock on their door and ask them about it. Somatimes it's just a case of people not having gotten rid of them yet. It never hurts to ask anyway. I also got a free canoe. I have had to do repairs on the canoe and one boat, but fiberglass and aluminium repair kits are cheap and easy to use. I cut up the free boat because all the seams leaked and am in the process of mounting its remains on top of the other boat as a blind.

You don't need a boat. The ducks will fly over the land somewhere. The only way you are going to know where the ducks are flying is to spend some time there. I have scouted lakes for two years before being able to have 5 or 6 spots to hunt that I know I will see ducks. Here are a couple of suggestions on where to start looking for spots. Where a river or stream comes into or goes out of the lake. Look for ponds that are close to the lake. Go to these types of areas ( if there are any like them) and set up . I would only take 6 decoys and mainly try just pass shooting until you find out where the ducks are flying. Go light sometimes I would move 10 times in a day.
