I'm starting the circut next spring... now only if they'd let me fish farmponds where all I have to use is a good ol caliber or mepps spinner. lol
These where caught last sat. The bad news is that the farmer came down and informed us that this was the last time we could fish/hunt his property. Somebody duckhunted his property last fall and treated his land like trash. made ruts with 2 trucks down to his pond, put in a huge boat. He'd told them no vehicles on his property... uhhg.
We caught several around the 3.5 to 4 range.. and two that where almost 4.5... had a ball. We also caught about 20 crappie, I didn't feel like taking pics of those though, they werent to big but not small either. I tell yah, I been knocking the big bass dead this year. All on solid gold, and black wiht a gold blade, Caliber spinners.

Did you keep or release those? I have always thought that if i was fishing in a farm pond, everything went back into it. just my way of thinking. I release all fish i catch. But that is just my op.

Had em for supper tonight... I agree with you on the releasing thing. I used to have about 6 ponds that I fished. I take one mess of fish out of each pond a year, all of em had to be over a pound and a half. It keeps the ponds from getting to many fish. therefore keeping them from growing big. Now if I catch a wall hanger then I'll take it home, but just for mounting purposes.
I like to manage my ponds well, and in order to do so I think it's good to weed out a few big fish every once in a while, therefore the little guys can have a chance at some food and get bigger.
We caught over 50 fish that night and only kept about 20 25...
Plus I like a fish fry every once in a while.

Nice fish. I really love hittin those farm ponds.

As for keeping them, some of our ponds have so many fish you can only catch ones that are 6 inches long. My dad says never to throw crappie back in a farm pond because they take over so quick. Several years back we threw 2 crappie into a buddies pond. I took my girlfriend back there 2 years ago and she caught monster crappie on 20 consecutive casts all in a pond that is maybe an acre. I think the next world record bass is hiding in a Kansas farm pond.
