prefer a chevrolet. I drive an 03' dodge quad cab. 5.9 liter engine gets the worst gas mileage ever. i have 60k on it and the heads have been re-done twice. other than that great truck.

Yeah, I can go several ways on this one.

For Work/Tuff trucks (which is what I drive everyday  ) , I prefer a Ford, w/ the Powerstroke Diesel.

For Sport trucks, I prefer Chevrolet.

For Classic trucks (which is my new "wanna-be" hobby--$ gets a lil tight  ), I am most definitely a Chevrolet man. They are sooo much easier to get restoration parts for.

I have nothing against Dodges, but when they went w/ that new "quiet" Cummins Diesel---That just ruined it for me! (Diesels are SUPPOSED to be LOUD!!)

Here is a lil joke I found about Dodges *Disclaimer- I dont really feel this way about Dodges, I just think it is really funny!

I am in favor of all American made truks, I just dont like the idea of employing and sending money to other countries, when I could keep it here.

Its just my oppinion, but I would never buy a foreign truk (or car) over An American made.

American and foriegn are not as cut and dried as it used to be, someToyotas are made in the US.Ford teams up with Mazda to import cars and trucks.Every car or truck today has some foriegn made components even if they are built here.
I've been partial to fords ever since I got my first F-100,a used 66',when I was in high school.Back then they were all American made, now the line is blurred.

Dogman, there is some truth to that. But for the most part you are sending money to Japan and other countries.

Besides, I like OUR trucks better, think they make 'em a lil more tuff. :salude:

I am really not brand Loyal, but I do like FULL sized pickups. I think Cummins makes the best engine period. You just don't run into many guys driving a newer powerstroke that gets over 20mpg and has 300k miles and no problems. I know way too many duramax and powerstroke guys getting 15mpg. or less. Why spend $5K more on a diesel if it gets the same mileage as gas? If Ford or Chevy put a cummins in a 3/4 or 1 ton, that is what I would have. But they don't, so I drive a Dodge.

The torque!!! and because they don't put Cummins in a Ford, Chevy, or GMC!

I've never owned one, but I have honestly never heard good things about Dodges. Ace has had his heads done twice with only 60 grand on the odometer. That adds another to list. I do love the sound of that Hemi though. Those things with good exhaust sound amazing. Stouff I love that diagram!

As for the poll, I drive a chevy, but I'm looking at buying a powerchoke or duramax for my next vehicle so that could change. The F-250 in the early to mid 90's was a great body style, just got to find one in good enough shape to take a look at.

Personally I don't send money overseas,my present truck is a Ford Explorer. My last truck was an F-150,before that I had a Chevy C-10,a Jeep Cherokee, another F-150 and an F-100.My car is a Ford Escort.

The only thing that bothers me about Detroit auto makers is the absurd amounts of money paid to execs where as thier Japanese counterparts make a small fraction of the pay for the same or better performance.
I know this is how things are done in this country but I don't have to like it.Detroit doesn't invest money in new plants and equip to the same degree as Japanese car makers do and if they did we probably wouldn't hear much about Toyota or Nissan or any of the others.
I'm not trying to start an arguement here but I do believe that much of American car makers problems were created in part or entirely by themselves.
To thier credit, detroit has come a long way in improving thier cars and trucks but only after the Japanese beat them silly in the market, especially during the 70's and 80's. I prefer to buy American vehicles but I can't condemn someone for buying what they choose, its thier money and they earned it.

I prefer Chevs but currently am still driving an 87 Dakota with the 3.9liter engine and its been one heck of a truck. Only problems I have had after 358k on it was the starter had to be replaced and at 275k I replaced the fule pump. Its not the most fule efficent vehicle but it has been very dependable and I don't baby it. None of the trucks I have owned were used for show or to just go to town for groceries.

Imports are great on the gas milaege, but what do they REALLY know about FULL size trucks? Granted their mid-size and smaller trucks are great, but they've only been in the full size business for a few years. WAIT and see how many problems they have come up when these trucks get a few years old. All companys have bugs when they bring out a new line. Look at the problems Dodge had when they came out with the Dakota quad cab 4 door in 2000. I owned one, I know! American makers have been making full size for the last 50 years or so and they still haven't got it "perfect". Foriegn trucks and autos might be produced in the U.S. but they are still designed by a foreign engineer oversees that has no experience in full size trucks.
For the economy size small trucks, Toyota, Nissan etc....thats great, but for a full size, I'm all for our American designed trucks.
My opinion, that's all.

I am not a brand guy!! But, I have had my 1996 Dodge since 1999 and now have 165,000 miles. They only major repairs where caused by self induced stupidty on my part i.e. cracked radiator and blown water gasket. Now it does leak some transmisson fluid but that is a dodge thing I hear.
