Do you blow a single or a double?

Do you hunt open water? Do you need a really loud call or just a quite one?

I think the RNT quackhead sounds awesome for the money. Great single reed. The primos yo sista and PHAT lady are nice cheap single reeds also.

If your looking for a great quality wood call go to www.DynZecalls.com.
It is a wood top with an acrylic bottom. You can get a double or single reed. The woods are incredible!! The prices are really good also. The call maker comes from Willmington, Ohio. His name in Aaron. You can't beat them. I've got three of the duck calls and a single reed goose call. They look good on the lanyard and sound great!

Hey thanks for replying. I think that my current call is a single reed, but I really don't understand the difference between a single and a double, if someone could help me with that too. I mostly hunt over open water, with and without decoys. So, hope that helps!

quackkiller has the best advice. blow a bunch..buy what you like (or in my case...what you like AND can afford.)

if i may toss my 2 cents in however, here would be my top 2.

RNT short barrel. either Cocobola or Bois D'Arc cost is around 75 bucks.

Sonderman 66. this is a remake of the old Olt 66. easy to blow, nasty, raspy, soft, loud when you want it to be, it really does it all and does it well. cost is around 27-30 bucks. i ordered mine online. DJ illinois River Calls i think it was called. type in Olt 66 or Sonderman 66 into a search engine and the site will come up.

I agree with some of the other guys...the RNT short barrel is a killer call. I would not trade mine for anything. Acryic will set you back $125.00 but you can save about $50.00 if you go with a wood model.

Calls that work great that anyone can afford are the duck commander mule and the Primos PHAT lady. I have both of these and use the crap out of them. The mule is GREAT for feed calls and up close stuff and the PHAT lady is a bit better if you need to crank it up. You dont have to spend boo-coo bucks on the RNT stuff but they are nice.

Duck Commander Mule-$15.00
Primos PHAT lady about the same

Happy Holidays

All the answers so far have been excellent. Just to toss something in I absolutely love the Duck Commander line of calls. The Smoke is the one that I use mostly and it performs superb in both open water and when over dekes in marshland.

I agree about the Duck Commander line of calls...I have had my DC mule for over 3 years and it blows great. Does not seem to freeze in cold weather either.

An EXCELLENT BEGINNER CALL...probably one of the best....its cheap...they hold up....easy to tune and clean and have good sound!
