Anyone have input on what may happen if the fields cant get planted this year? I talked to my buddy who farms and he said if he cant get in by June 3rd then he will be filing an insurance claim. June 3rd is the deadline to have any kind of growing season.

If the fields don't get planted we could be in big trouble, not only to keep birds around but also for antler growth for deer hunting.

Planting what ? Soybeans have until the end of June early July around here (central Il.) 90 days growing to mature. With climate change there is not much chance of frost in September anymore. Yields will be reduced but still mature.

Not much planted around me either and I've heard same same. However I'm inclined to think farmers are referring to planting corn not soybeans. First week of June is cutoff for corn planting my farmer friends say.
I'm more concerned with current river flooding. No feed up and down the Rivers again will have a bigger impact on migration than no corn fields. Just an opinion.

Absolutely not. Prevent plant dates were June 5th for corn and June 15th for beans. Cover crop has always been an option. A new generation of corn seed has been sold by the seed dealers for faster germination.

You are not being very realistic. River valley farmers having a bad year for corn, and clubs along the river are hoping they can get something other than corn to provide some food. I hate to say it, but I see a quick fly by this year.

yes I'm worried! The Mississippi in NW Illinois is at flood stage. It has been most of the summer. I prolly won't be buying stamps this yr. Or spend money revamping the boat blind. Good luck to all who get to go!

If the Mississippi river is flooded do they allow you to hunt out of boats? Like a free for all deal since permanent blinds didn't get built because of the river being so high??? Pool 18 to be exact
