Are Tasers Safe?

Most security personnel defend the use of Tasers, but Amnesty International said that there have been more than 100 Taser-related deaths since 2001. What do you think?

"You wouldn't be complaining about Tasers if you had a rubber bullet lodged within inches of your heart like me."
Harold Wilson - Sound Producer

"As a man who wears a thick-rubber gimp suit on his midnight visits to the nursing school, I have no problem with Taser use."
Mark Stuttgart - Sales Manager

"If you're a cop, deadly force is the last thing you want to use. However, if you're a really twisted cop, a weapon that leaves a suspect flopping about like an epileptic puppy is dead-bang perfect."
Karl Gordon - Police Officer

"People complain that getting hit by a Taser is really painful, but in reality it doesn't hurt until your hypothalamus starts working again."
Mary Watkins - Systems Analyst

"I only hope this controversy doesn't affect my soon-to-be-launched national family-fun franchise, Taser Tag."
Sam Williamson - Sheet-Metal Worker

"Tasers are too much of a hazard. I guess the police will just have to go back to using tractor beams."
Ellen Anderson - Chef

(PS - this is a joke..for those that tend to take things to literally.)

LOVE THEM! I have not seen one person killed by one and have not seen one person put up a fight thats been hit with one. Pepper spray does not always work, maybe 50% of the time. I sprayed a guy that was going to "kick my ass". He run up to his porch, grabbed his wifes iced tea, threw it in his face and then really was po'd! It took three of us to get him down and in cuffs. If I would of had a taser then, game over! People that die usually have some hidden under lying health problem. Most die from heart attacks. Do you know how many peolple I've had to call EMS for after a fight because of wounds, pepper spray to the eyes AND chest pains or flat out heart attacks. Not to mention the wounds a person gets when you "bean bag" them! I gotta tell ya it's comical at times.

the hypothalamus one was genious! i am still laughing over that.
:withstupid:
You all ever watch the COPS eppisodes that are all taser incidents? I gotta tell ya, I have a ball. It's some of the funniest stuff you'll ever watch. My wife justs sits and laughs at me and my buddies. It's a riot.
:withstupid: What the antis won't tell you are how many lives have been saved because we didn't have to shoot somebody or the time and Officers that have not gotten hurt fighting with a suspect because of the taser. Suspects get REAL complient after they have been tased. They talk big because they don't think you will really shoot them. They push it too far and the officer tases them rather than fighting with them. There is no perminent damage and I guarantee you, they will think twice before threatening an officer again!

Oh yeah!! Did I mention that it is pretty funny to watch also!
We saved a guys life the other night that wanted to kill himself that tried cutting his wrist without the taser we might have not been able to secure him safely without him further harming himself or us.

Yall should see where they shot a full grown bull if one and that bad boy got stiff as a board and flopped right over. Of course he was a little ticked when he got up

It's no joke when you lite someone up, but it really is funny to watch!
"ya, F U , whata ya gonna do with that thing?....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.......awwww...oooowwww, pleeeeease don't do that again. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.....stop resisting.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ"
The officers here in Carlisle, PA have tasers and the goal is to make them available for every officer on the shift. They have saved my bacon more then once. As a Paramedic, we work hand in hand with the police officers. We have one particular individual who is approx. 6'6" and weighs around 400lbs. He knows how to throw his weight around and does so on a regular basis. Since the officers started carrying the taser he's been much more subdued when we've encountered him. Amazing how 50,000 volts can calm someone down. Plus, it's f&&king hilarious watching them beg like little babies.

i think i have seen that footage. a company was trying to sell some to us here and had a cd with a bunch of footage on it. i'll have to dig that thing up.
That's awesome! :salude:
 That was unbelievable. I can't believe that little taser could put a bull down like that.
It sure as heck put him down fast but he was up pretty quick to. You wouldn't have wanted to jump right in there to check him out.
That is one of the greatest videos I have ever seen. Lol, I can't stop watching him fall over stiff.. lol...
I have a buddy who owns a pool hall here in town. We had all had a few too many beers when he pulls this taser out from underneath the counter. We pull together $70 for anyone who is brave (dumb) enough to zap himself on the inside of his thigh. A guy steps up and sure enough he fell to the ground and pee'd his pants. Funniest thing I've ever seen!
