I have a pair of chest waders with the velcro style straps. Is it a bad idea to fasten the straps around rod that I hang clothes on in my closet? I have them adjusted to where the boots are sitting on the floor and supporting a good deal of the weight. I just don't want to damage the straps or get them stretched.

Thats a good question, semo. i have a similar style of wader and that is how i have mine hung up. dont think that it will be a problem.

I had a pair and hung them by straps, problem was and is it will tear the stitching points, scheels replaced them for me so I got a new pair.
MFG. says to clean med off and fold them and store in cool dark place.

my friend hangs them like you and he has no problems with it because most of the wights in on the boots not the straps

I have a closet in my garage and place the straps over the hanger rod. With the feet on the floor, I use just enough stress on the straps to support the waders, which allows air to get into the waders between hunts. Have never had a problem with stretching the shoulder straps.

Cabelas has boot hangers for something like 5 or 6 bucks. That's what I use. I used to hang mine by the straps, but the waders stay "open" when I use the boot hangers as opposed to hanging them by the straps, and dry inside much faster.

I had trouble hanging my waders by the boots. They would split where the hang strap was.
