Here is the deal, My Christmas bonus was a new benelli super nova. I do a little snow goose hunting so a full choke is nice to have. I went to the local sporting goods store, and they had briley benelli/berretta modified chokes, but the full chokes were only berretta. The guy at the store said that it would work but I thought I oughta run it by you guys first.

preacherman....dezzer here. i'm hearing a lot of horror stories about the benelli autos malfunctioning. its not the cycling portion thats malfunctioning but the free-floating bolt system. if the bolt stays open even a micro-fraction the gun WILL NOT FIRE. it happened to me today. my dogs tail probably knocked the bolt back a bit while i was playing with him between the action. when i raised up to shoot this gorgeous black duck coming into my dekes the gun just clicked when i slapped the trigger. i looked down and saw the bolt was not seated all the way into the barrel. i'm not sure if i want to deal with that again to be honest. have you or your buddies heard of this happening at all ???? ttyl.....dezzer

Well, mine isn't the auto is is the pump, but I can tell you I used to have a browning auto that was supposed to be one of the nicest guns on the market. With it if the conditions were at all wrong it wouldn't cycle. IMHO I wouldn't shoot an auto at ducks, the enviroment (saltwater) I haunt is way too brutal for a finicky auto.

Beretta/benelli mobil choke system's are interchangeable. I wouldn't be shooting a full choke at geese, especially decoying geese. If you want something tighter go to a wad stripping choke like a wad wizard or patternmaster. It was my expereince with all three of my berettas that a full choke with big shot causes blown patterns with lots of flyers.

Make sure if you go with the full Steel shot choke you get the extended version. I have seen MANY issues with shooting fast or large steel thru the non extended chokes on the standard Benelli's. The longer flush mount Crio chokes do not have this issue. Even on the Carlson site they do not recommend fast or large shot in the standard benelli flush chokes if I remember correctly.

+1 on the Patternmaster. Super tight and not really a choke, just stops the wad so it doesn't disturb the pattern.
They probably work great for some people and guns, I tried them in browning, Winchester and Benellis both SBE and SBE II. I got much better patterns with all shot sizes with brileys and truloc chokes and equal patterns with carlsons At less than 1/2 the cost. I have 3 complete sets of OEM Crio chokes and they pattern pretty good too but all 3 sets pattern a little different in the same gun. The factory SBE chokes suck for the most part as does the Invector Plus IMO but in reality they all patterned good enough to kill ducks and geese at the proper range.
