Who`s Beenie, for a start? I'm here to learn of people's personal experiences with the SBE3; do you have any?
First of all. .I prefer to learn from others mistakes so I don't repeat them....2nd... one only has to do a very simple search to find out the numerous issues involved with that particular model....but hey...I've heard they make an ok moped

My guess is pretty good. One of my hunting buddies got one before last season. He went into it knowing the reports of the gun shooting high. On our first hunt, he tried to shoot a cripple on the water and like 3 bb’s hit the water. We all saw the shot and were like what?? Dang, that thing shoots high.

Either that or it was a good example of poor shooting.

Buddy and I took a novice friend of his duck hunting years ago. During the hunt, a shoveler drake came straight into the decoys at 12 o'clock, cruising about 12 inches above the water. We told the friend to take it, as it was a 'gimme' shot. The friend stood up and shot at it. He was literally shooting down at the bird. At the shot, the bird turned off and flew away. No pellets hit the water, anywhere. The friend was shooting an 870 Express, as I recall. The gun wasn't shooting high, the shooter was.....WAY high.

My hunting buddy is not a novice, nor a poor shot. Also, this was a crippled bird in the water. Not a flying bird.

Can't speak with authority to whether SBE 3s shooting high is a common thing or internet myth, but I know for oft observed fact more than a few folks miss easy water-swats. Evidence seen when it turns out a swatter's gun is empty suggests flinching is likely a common cause.

Ok, you guys convinced me, all of the reports of the SBE 3 shooting high are false and even my own eye witness experience was a result of flinching because we are all novice inexperienced shooters.
That's twice you've brought a smile, as it dang sure isn't just new shooters who manage to miss sitting ducks. But the point of my post was that "My buddy's gun repeatedly shot high on paper." would have carried more weight than you saw a guy miss a water swat.

Carry on...

Understood but I did not pattern his gun. I was not with him when he did. He said it shot “off the paper” but I was not there to see it. I was only going with what I saw.

He has since tried to shim it and he said the pattern was improved but still not close to what he wants. He was thinking about sending it back to Benelli but I am not sure if he did yet.

definitely send it in, although beenie is known for saying 'working to specs"....better yet, if he can, get a refund and buy something that shoots to POA....there's many better options out there
