.308,30-06, 7mm Rem. Mag, 300 Rem. Mag.

any of those guns do great for me. I don't think the .300 is any overkill for mule deer out here in the west.
I don't think it is too much overkill... dead is dead. I was talking about whitetail though. The are big here in IL but you can't use a rifle. Down south where I can use one, they are not so big.

Now i know why you cant fight in the ufc. Shooting those two guns you probaly dont have arms still attached to your body. So on praire dogs what would you use. .375 RUM or maybe a .50 cal bmg that would turn them into red mist.

.577 t-rex for elk well you my friend are far under gunned, I will only use a .700 nitro express.
Seriously I don't even actualy shoot the elk I just shoot a try or the ground near it and the flying debri kills it.
As for my gopher gun i use a 80mm mortar with 20 pound HE shells

Now if you wanted to go for coyoted I would say the 25 mm Bushmaster Cannon on a Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Probably AP rounds but the HE will work in a pinch.

The 30-40 Krag with a 180gr bullet will kill any N Amaerican animal !!

It just depends on how unsure of your self you feel, to upgrade, where you, will have the curage to pull the trigger.

Shot placement is #1.

How much error off target is #2.

I use a 7X57 Mauser for deer and elk with 140 to 150 grn bullet for deer and 175 grn for elk and loaded according to European standards. But sometimes I use a 338-06 with a 200 grn Hornady bullet for elk or bear

Very correct!!!! Although I prefer the 30.06 and have no hesitation on using it on anything on this continent. 165gr. will go up to moose, but for big bear, 180gr. is a better choice. Using Hornady light mags, of course

the energy from the 50 and 54 is about equivalent to a 30-30 and 30-40/35rem.

it doesnt take much to kill an animal, but to do it cleanly, takes a bit more. if i were elk hunting, id like a 300. but i shoot my guns farther than most, so i have different reasons. a 30-30 just doesnt reach 600 yards+ well

I personally use a .300 WSM for hunting out west; mule deer and elk. However since the .300 WSM is to big for MO white tail; I am getting a .270 for them and Pronghorn. If I had to get a gun to do it all I would go with the .30-06 or .308 win depending on how far you want to shoot. .30-06 is prob the best all around north american hunting round. IMO. The .308 is very good, but does not shoot as flat for hunting out west, and lacks the power of the 06. I also like the 7mm Rem Mag, but an not a hugh fan of belted mags. So if it were me I would go with the .30-06. But you know more guns are better than less so I would by two guns. One for elf and one for deer.
