I am looking to get a 22” Blackstone Griddle tabletop version. I plan on using it with 1# flame king tanks so it is easier to move around and take up less space than using a 20# tank. I am wondering what the run time is with a 1# tank when cooking? Most of my grilling will be on my pellet grill but my family loves hibachi and it would be good for outdoor breakfasts.
Thanks in advance

Probably 1.5 hours if I had to bet. Blackstones cook fast so it should produce a couple meals. I see people at camp sites using the small tanks with them often though I just have a 25’ hose that connects mine to a regular tank.

I bought the 22” griddle with the hood. I haven’t purchased an infrared thermometer yet but will soon. I have been using it in my garage that is around 35-40 degrees and haven’t cooked with it off high yet. Not sure if it is not getting as hot as it should (flame issue from 1# tanks) or if it is because of the temp in my garage. I think I will purchase the wind shield for it to see if it will hold more heat on the griddle so I can turn it down a not have to run it on high. Overall I am not overly impressed yet, hopefully I get the hang of it.

If you're not in the wind I don't think a windshield will matter. I consider these a warm weather thing as the surface required to heat is far greater than a grill grate. Assume you're using both burners if only needing one? I have spare bottle everywhere as I use them for coleman single burner and a coleman coffee maker, 22" griddle arriving today. All for camping or apocalypse.

I tried making smash burgers on it and couldn’t get it to sear while on high after letting the griddle warm up. I was hoping the wind shields for the side at the bottom of the griddle would prevent some of the heat from escaping, therefore allowing me to turn the heat down some. I am using the 1# flame king refillables for my griddle, and I have several to switch out when needed. I know it’s not supposed to get as hot as the gates to hell, customer service said on high it should get to around 550 degrees, at that temp I think I would get searing. These are the wind guards I was thinking of. They are for the 36” griddle but others sell ones that would work for a 22”. BLACKSTONE 36

Never seen a video with people using to sear. Have seen a seared steak added to cook. But remember, they probably mean "up to 550" which is similar to cell phone battery time.

Your propane bottle probably sucks. It should absolutely sear a smash burger, steak etc insanely fast.

Let it get to temp for 5-7 mins like heating cast iron then let it rip.

Also did you follow the instructions to season it? Not that it matters with respect to heat but it does for cook quality and longevity.

I was a big skeptic, but now I love mine.

So I seasoned my new one this evening. Think I got about an hour on a little green tank. Not very long, the 2 burner griddle must take a lot.

I bought the hose for a grill tank as most use will be at home. Little green bottle for the road.
You can actually do a lot of cooking in a hour.
I may search around and see if there's something bigger than green bottle but a lot smaller than 20lb. I could do a 2-3 days maybe on 3 bottles with the propane coffee maker and griddle. Burner on the coffee maker is a lot smaller.

So - after using my Blackstone a couple times, fugg the 1lb canisters. I have an extra 20lb tank to replace the one that runs out of gas while I'm cooking on the grill. I can use that instead but also bought an 11lb "squatty" tank for camping. Perfect. Lighter weight, fits in the toolbox, save big $$ on 1lbers.

Go to fill the 11 pounder at the garden/landscape store (like I do my 20lber's) and they act like they've never seen one. They say "we don't do those". I'm like W-T-H, it's got the same hardware as a 20 lb tank? So I ask for the manager to explain why. The Manager comes out and says, "oh yea, we can do those but it's the same price as the 20lb fill up". So naturally I ask, "For 1/2 the propane"?

Her answer" "yes, the price is $22 for "up to 20 lbs". So I say, "Well that is certainly unfriendly" and walk away.

Then I call Home Depot. "do you REFILL tanks?" She says "yes". I head over and no, they only sell refilled tanks on exchange. And naturally, not 11lb tanks.

I finally call TSC much further away and vet it out before the trip. They are the only place in town that actually REFILLS a tank and I walked out full for $10.00.

I often plan my needs perfectly (as in the case of an 11lb tank for camping) but some dumbarsery always seems to get in the way.

Tractor Supply isn’t what it used to be but I’ve found there’s still people who know what they’re doing that work there.

Agreed tits. I'm always a little amazed at the variety of good stuff they can fit into a small store. Plus the kid helping me was solid. Hard to find these days in retail.
