Goosepit2007 PMed me asking where I was getting my 7/8oz, 15/16oz, and 1oz 28ga Bismuth loads from. They were all from the BPI "Handloading Bismuth Shothells 6th ed" that I purchased from them in 2013 or 2014.
I called BPI just to check, and Eric there said he didn't show a single one of the 9 published loads in their database now. He said they lowered the pressure ceiling they use for published loads a few years ago, and that may be why. Biggest load he shows now for 28ga Bi is 13/16oz, at only 10,100 psi. All the removed loads were 11,000-12500psi (SAAMI MAP is 12,500 psi).

They had no idea why loads removed, nor if any of them were unsafe and that was the cause, nothing... Just "I don't show any of those loads". So here I am with a book from THEM, which I purchased just 5 or 6 years ago, purely to get 28ga and 20ga bismuth loads, and they can't tell me anything about it at all.

I am really astounded by their lack of accountability-- if they published a load, even if they have now removed it, it for damn sure ought to be sitting in their database with some sort of note in the remarks as to why it is no longer included! These are the loads I've been using for 28ga Bi, now I have no idea what their real pressures are or if BPI just backed away from loads close to SAAMI (which they certainly didn't do in other gauges).

I'll probably have to end up sending in one of them for pressure testing if I want to keep using it. The whole thing really irks me.

I feel.that that had alot people that sent in loads to get tested found higher pressure and when called in say this or that about crimp being to deep not right hulls ECT. And then just dropped the loads and say what loads.

But they have print in every one's hands in there books

Good post Dave!!

Well I will stick with 28 ga 3/4 oz bismuth loads that hammer ducks and geese and have safe loads to boot!!

Was there Longshot Data in those loads? Some new discussions have come up more recently.
