hey i want to paint my boat, but im afraid of messing up and it looking like poopy. Can u guys post up some pics of your camo boats?

If you are worried how it will come out, get a scrap sheet of plywood, about 4'x4' lay a base coat of paint on it and then camo it up. Try different looks, colors or techniques. When you find what you like the best, just paint your boat that way.

1. Get a piece of roofing tar paper and draw a picture of cattails making a stencil
2. Cut out your drawing
3. spray paint with flat colors

I have done this and it turns out nice. I also use this technique to repaint decoys such as pintail wing patterns.

I also have had good results by grabbing sticks and leaves and holding them close to the boat and GENTLY spray painting a silouette of the stick or leaf. That is what I did for my boat and I get compliments on it all of the time. Sorry I don't have a pic.

JJ has it right, practice what you'd like on your boat and what will fit best where you hunt but paint will not adhere to plywood the same way it will on aluminum. So proceed with caution. And sometimes, even if it looks like crud to you, it can still convince the ducks.

Do you have a green or tan base to start with? If not, you may need to prime it somehow.
