There is a Guy on another Sight I go to, that found a Duck, I'll Drag his post over here and let you all read what he posted about it.

I was hunting the Coastal Zone in NJ this past week and on Monday it was cold with plenty of ice. The guide and I were in the process of moving to a new spot, when we came around a turn in the channel and some Seagulls took off from the water. As the one Seagull flew I noticed he dropped something and it landed on the ice. After pointing it out to the guide he motored over and broke thru the ice with the boat so I could pick it up. It was a duck, but only had the wings and legs attached. the breast and head were picked clean. The legs were barely hanging on and wouldn't you know it had a leg band on! It was a very old band and the numbers were still visible. It said,"Avise F & G Wildlife Service." The leg was hanging on by a little skin, so I pulled it off and put it in my pocket. That evening the guide invited me over to his house for dinner. After much soul searching I decided to give the band to him. It was his boat and his marsh and I did nothing to earn the band. Needless to say he accepted.
Now we had trouble identifying the duck cause it only had the wings to go by. Of course he will get the info back on the certificate for the positive ID, but maybe you can help with the ID by the picture till he gets the info.

You have to post in the photo album. Then you have to use the photo number of then you can do something like this

then it should come up
My guess is it look something like a pintail wing and it also has grey feet like a pintail.

I'm not too familiar with sea ducks but if I found a wing that had a brown spectrum with white tips out here in Utah it would be a pintail.

Sounds like you guys are getting the kind of weather I hunted in, in South Carolina in 1994.

Cold and ice my good man. Im on the midnight shift this weekend and starting about 5am cars started flipping and sliding everywhere. I hate that I could not get out and hunt some ducks during the coldest weather we have had all year but thats the way it goes. The season end on Sunday but I got my eye on some geese through Feb. thank goodness. Hopefully tonight want be to bad I think most idiot drivers tore there cars up last night so they want be out tonight. Me and the guys are going to have a parking lot sliding contest later (you think the sheriff will mind) :mrgreen:

Whew! . . . those are rough pics, but if I had one guess, it POSSIBLY could be a drake Gadwall. The only thing that bothers me about that guess is the leg color. Gadwalls are more yellowish but they may not be due to the deterioration.

Maybe it's my monitor, and we shoot quite a few Pins around here but even with zoom, the speculum and coloration doesn't convince me 100% it is one. I'll be anxious to see the band report posted.

I was gonna say Gadwall too cuz of the white on the wing and the coloration. Course this is my first year duck hunting, what the hell do I know :toofunny:

My guess would be a hen pintail from the pic's and from the Identification info available. I'm no expert so it's just a guess.

Keep the sport alive take a kid hunting/fishing.

Nope can't be a coot, it has webbed feet. If you ever look at coot's feet they don't have webbed feet.

i shot a ring neck hen that had wings like that i don't remember if it had that little bit of white.
